Basic Info:Kiev is the capital of Ukraine. Its area is 790 square kilometres. More than 3 millions people live there. Kyiv is situated on both banks of Dnieper river. The central street of the Kyiv is Kreshchatic.
History:Kyiv is an ancient city.Some years ago we celebrated the fifteen hundredth anniversary of its foundation.
There is a legend about its foundation. Once there lived three brothers, Kiy, Shchek, Khoriv and their sister Lybed. They founded a city on one of the hills above the Dnieper and called it Kyiv after the eldest brother.
About:Kyiv is a large political, industrial, scientific and cultural centre. There are many theatres, museums,exhibitions.
There are a lot of places of historical importance in Kyiv. Among them there are the Kyivo-Pecherska Lavra, the Golden Gate, the St. Sophia's Cathedral.From the top of the Golden Gate can admire a splendid view of the city.
Kyiv is one of the oldest and the most beautiful cities of Europe. One half of its territory is occupied by parks and gardens.Kyiv is especially beautiful in spring when the famous Kyiv chestnut trees are in blossom.
My city is famous for its monuments and architectural landmarks. The monument to Prince Volodimir in the picturesque park on the Dnieper hills has become a simbol of the ancient city.
